MUSIC REVIEW: Out of Ashes - Dead by sunrise

In 2005, Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington formed a side act with Industrial Rock band Julien-K. Their Debut Album “Out Of Ashes” was released in Japan on the 30th September, and 13th October worldwide.

Let’s start with the first track “Fire”, the song opens with a fade in quick, soft guitar riff, about 18 seconds in, the drums join in followed by vocals by Chester. The song is a soft rock song, similar to Linkin Park song “In Pieces”, soft but powerful, and very catchy.

Secondly, the album’s first single “Crawl Back In”, the music video was released on 18th August 2009 the song opens with a simple guitar melody and breaks into the full song, yet again, it’s another catchy song that can just stick with you, especially the main chorus lyrics “I want to crawl back in!”, you will find yourself repeating in several times, because I know I can’t stop singing it.

One of my favourite tracks on this album is “My Suffering”, it is a great rock song for those of you who liked “Given Up” by Linkin Park, although, some of the lyrics can be mistaken for “You wash away these dinner stains…” I assure you there are no comedy lyrics in any song.

The rest of the album is something that you have to listen to yourself, if you like Linkin Park, you’ll love this, it’s energetic, and the band has done an excellent job with their debut album.

This album gets a 5 hammer rating, and it deserves it!
